Malwarebytes also has an option to scan for rootkits but it too will take much longer to run because it is doing a more thorough scan. You really only need a full scan every now and then or if you think a rootkit is hiding that the quick scan and Malwarebytes isn't finding. That combined with if you have a lot of personal data like music, videos, documents and images means a full scan can take hours and hours (and hours). The full scan is checking every single file and folder on your hard drive including memory, boot sectors, tasks, backup files, temp files, cookies, startup items/running programs.
